Privacy and cookies

The short version
PC Games Guide is a static informational site. We don't have user accounts. We don't collect personal data deliberately, we don't run targeted advertising, and we don't drop tracking cookies of our own. This page is the long-form version of those three sentences, kept short because it can be.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is a cookieless, privacy-respecting analytics product. It records aggregate visit counts and which pages are popular, but it does not set cookies, does not fingerprint individual visitors, and does not collect information that could identify you personally. Cloudflare's privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Strictly-necessary cookies
The site is served through Cloudflare. To protect against automated
attacks, Cloudflare may set a single strictly-necessary cookie called
__cf_bm on your device. It expires after 30 minutes. It
does not contain personal data, is not used for advertising, and is
not shared with us. Under UK PECR rules strictly-necessary cookies do
not require consent, but we disclose it here for transparency.
Server logs
Cloudflare keeps short-lived server logs for security and abuse prevention. These include your IP address and the page you requested. Under UK GDPR an IP address can constitute personal data; the lawful basis for processing is legitimate interest (protecting the site from abuse). Logs are retained by Cloudflare per their standard policy and we don't have direct access to identifiable log data.
Affiliate links and external sites
When you click an affiliate link from this site (for example to Create PCs, Amazon UK, Scan Computers, Overclockers UK), the destination site may set its own cookies for affiliate attribution. Those cookies are first-party to the destination, set after you leave our site, and governed by that site's own privacy policy.
Our affiliate disclosure is in the terms of use.
Images and external resources
Game cover art and screenshots are served from the IGDB CDN
(images.igdb.com). IGDB does not, to our knowledge, set
tracking cookies on image requests. Their privacy policy is at igdb.com/privacy_policy.
Your rights
Because we don't hold identifiable data on you, there is generally nothing for us to delete, export, or correct on request. If you do have a privacy concern, want a specific image removed, or want to understand what — if anything — we hold about you, please email [email protected] and we'll respond within five working days.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
We'll update this page if we change anything material — for example, if we ever add forms, sign-ups, or a newsletter (currently none of these exist). The "last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
